Montserrat Helicopter Tour Sightseeing Tickets, Caribbean Helicopters, Jolly Harbour, Antigua
03/09/2010 03:49 PM
You will fly directly from Antigua to the East Coast of Montserrat.

The entire flying tour of Montserrat is over the "exclusion zone", which is an area that has been designated off limits to habitation or ground transportation for the last 5 years. At the center of the exclusion zone is the Soufrierre Hills Volcano, rising to 3000 feet above sea level, still active and frequently emitting a combination of ash, smoke and steam. One thousand feet below is the massive Tar River Gorge and Delta, which has formed over the last six years as a result of avalanches of hot gas, rock, ash, dust known as pyroclastic flows.

The helicopter will then allow a view of Plymouth, the former capital of Montserrat, which is now uninhabited and in some places buried in 40 feet of ash. You will also see villages trapped in the exclusion zone such as Long Ground, Windy Hill and Spanish Point. On the seaside, you will now find the W.H. Bramble Airport. Closed after being hit by a pyroclastic flow in the fall of 1997, you will fly low down the abandoned runway at 100mph to give you a feeling of what it is like to be on the ground in the vicinity of the volcano, but from the safety and comfort of a helicopter.***

After travelling along the East Coast, you will leave the island of Montserrat behind, taking vivid memories with you back to Antigua.

Available: Availability varies on a day to day basis. Please contact the tour operator to confirm a time and date. Departures begin at 9:00am Monday - Friday.

Duration: 45 minutes

Note: Tour route over the exclusion zone of Montserrat may vary depending on weather and volcanic conditions.

***On February 11th, 2010 a partial dome collapse occurred at Soufriere Hills volcano leaving only ash where Bramble Airport was once found. This part of the tour will now vary as a result.

03/09/2010 05:51 AM
Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners/experienced investigators. Past investigations have deemed this venue extremely scary.

Join us for this exclusive and special night where you will get to uncover the most haunted aspects of Chester, one of England's most haunted cities! The event is certainly not for the faint hearted and will take you to places with extreme paranormal activity....can you handle it?

Chester is a ghost hunter's heaven. Join a night-time Ghost Walk around the eerie haunts of Chester's mysterious and murky past. Tour the ancient, walled city after dark, visit well-known spooky and scary places, and hear spine-chilling tales of ghosts, spectres, and things that go bump in the night... was that a cold breeze or a spirit walking past you? Join us and find out!

The tour will start at 9pm and will last approximately an hour and 30 minutes before we are dropped off at the very haunted Stanley Palace! For the meeting point for this event please see information detailed below.

The Stanley Palace Haunting's
Chester's picturesque Stanley Palace is one of the most atmospheric and haunted buildings within the city walls. The ancient half-timbered, black-and-white, haunted mansion on Watergate Street was once the town house of James Stanley, the 7th Earl of Derby. Following the Parliamentarian's resounding victory in the English Civil War, the outspoken Earl foolishly voiced his Royalist opinions once too often - openly supporting the exiled King Charles II. Predictably, the Earl was arrested in 1651, tried, and convicted of treason. Surrounded by Roundhead troopers, he was then kept under strict house arrest in Stanley Palace before being escorted to Bolton for execution.

His last days were undoubtedly traumatic as he said a final goodbye to his family and friends. Today, his ghost still wanders wearily through the ground floor rooms, dressed forever in his smartest court finery. Strangest of all, however, is the fact that he appears as if in a photographic negative - with a dark face, black shirt, and white jacket. But quite why that is, no one can explain.

Stanley Palace has had its share of visitors and many have told afterwards of the strange and chilling presence they felt whilst visiting. Many have reported hearing children’s giggles, and soft moans and murmurs.

The figure of a lady dressed in 17th Century clothing has on a number of occasions been seen entering the Queen Anne Room, footsteps have been heard in the gallery and strange smells filling the air at any time of the day. Will we encounter the Monks that once dwelled on this site? You may even catch a glimpse of a Roman soldier as he wanders between the two worlds! The Ghost Hunt will commence around 11pm, the evening will start with a Medium Workshop and Ghost Hunt of the location. Full use of our paranormal equipment is available throughout the night but we encourage guests to bring along their own camcorders and cameras. Tea and Coffee will be served throughout the night, as NO Supper Buffet is served we encourage you to bring your own snacks.

The event will commence at 9pm, please arrive at the meeting point at 8.45pm. Please note there is no designated parking at Stanley Palace, car parking will be in nearby car parks. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night. We encourage you to bring your own cameras and camcorders to use on the night and a torch. The event will draw to a close at 4am.

The Queens Hotel Ghost Hunt Event Tickets, Queens Hotel, Chester
03/09/2010 05:31 AM
Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

The Queen Railway Hotel opened its doors for receiving guests on 21st April 1860. Costing £29,000 this premier hotel was full of sumptuous furnishings and Cheshire Hunt often used the stable facilities, this area is now the hotel car park.

On the 26th November 1861 a fire broke out in the roof and quickly spread to the upper floors, the cause was never established. No structural damage was incurred and the hotel continued to trade whilst refurbishment took place. Most furnishing's and fittings were rescued from the building and stored in the train station (which is opposite the hotel).

Charles Dickens and Lilly Langtry stayed when they played at the Music Hall. In 1867 a sister hotel, The Queen Commercial (now known as the Town Crier) was opened. During the construction of City Road a tunnel was incorporated to link the two hotels. The tunnels exist to this day, but are no longer in use. The hotel is said to be haunted by many a ghostly spirit, spotted by staff members and guests alike. Most activity is centered around the Albert Lounge with staff reporting sightings and also in the Edward Suite which use to be a Gentleman's Lounge used by the high society guests of the hotel. An area of bedrooms used by the staff in 1858 is also said to be an area of paranormal activity.

Ye Olde Man and Scythe Ghost Hunt Event Tickets, Olde Man and Scythe, Bolton
03/09/2010 05:27 AM
Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

Join us as we give you the opportunity to investigate one of Bolton's most haunted and historic locations....the Olde Man and Scythe AND the Olde Trinket Shop! Limited to just 18 tickets this will be a small and intimate ghost hunt, book early to avoid disappointment!

Ye Olde Man & Scythe is one of the best known pubs in Bolton town centre, one of the oldest public houses in the United Kingdom and is reputedly haunted by James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby amongst others. Ye Olde Man & Scythe has stood in Churchgate since the 12th century.

The earliest mention of the pub dates to 1251 and a Royal Charter giving permission for a market to be held in by the Earl of Derby who owned the property where the building stands. The pub has undergone some structural changes and according to a date stone was rebuilt in 1636, though some of the cellar dates back to the earlier building. The sign depicts a man holding a scythe. Around the time of the Royal Charter of 1251, Ye Olde Man & Scythe passed from the Ferrers (Earl of Derby) family to the Pilkingtons through marriage. The crest of the Pilkingtons is that of a man mowing with a scythe which relates to a family legend concerning one of their ancestors who disguised themselves as a mower to avoid capture around the time of the Norman conquest.

The Pilkingtons fought for Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth on 22 August 1485 and Leonard Pilkington was executed for this in Leicester. The whole Pilkington family manor and estate was then passed to by Henry VII to Thomas Lord Stanley, the newly created Earl of Derby after the earldom had been re-introduced. Sir Thomas Pilkington of Pilkington is mentioned in the roll call for the Battle of Bosworth fighting for the Yorkist Richard and he later died at the Battle of Stoke in 1487.

There is said to be many a ghostly going's on in the walls of the buildings. Ye Olde Man & Scythe is said to be haunted by a young girl named Jenny and the ill fated James Stenley, 7th Earl of Derby, who has reputedly been seen in the Museum Room. An article by Jennifer Minard dated 2006 and entitled ‘TV Shuts Door On Haunted Hostelry’ in which she explains that representatives from Living TV examined the pub for a possible appearance on Most Haunted, but it was deemed unsuitable as the haunted rooms did not have doors on them. Jennifer’s article mentions that the pub is said to haunted by 20 ghosts!

The event will commence at 10pm, please arrive at the venue for 10.00pm when the doors will open. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night. Flat comfortable shoes must be worn on the night and we ask you to bring extra layers of clothing, it can get cold in the venue later on in the night. The Spread Eagle Hotel, Jedburgh Event Tickets, Spread Eagle Hotel, Jedburgh, Roxburghshire
03/09/2010 04:39 AM
Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

Local historians believe that a building on the site of the Spread Eagle Hotel was constructed some time around 1450 as dormitories for the monks of the abbey in Jedburgh. It isn't clear whether any of this original structure remains, but the thickness of the walls certainly suggests great age.

The Spread Eagle Hotel was first granted a license to serve alcohol in 1604, when licenses were issued by the government in an attempt to control the price of beer, and it has been licensed continuously ever since. Famous guests have included Lord Darnley (who married Mary Queen of Scots), Sir Walter Scott, definitely Acker Bilk & quite possibly the Rolling Stones.

The area which now includes the dining room, function room and four of the guest bedrooms was originally a single large ballroom built by the Jedburgh Society in around 1800. The grand staircase leading up to these rooms is now in use as a fire escape! As part of the reconstruction work on this part of the hotel, the current owners restored the vennel (a covered path under the building) to show something of how the rear of the hotel would have looked when coachmen brought guests to the foot of that staircase for parties. There is some evidence from old maps that this vennel originally ran beneath the front of the hotel from the High Street and it certainly still lines up with the front door of the building.

The Hotel is said to be haunted, past investigations have unearthed some interesting levels of paranormal activity. Sightings of a Lady have been witnessed in the hotel, wearing green she has been lovingly dubbed the Green Lady of the hotel. This is Jedburgh's oldest hotel and so we are looking forward to stepping back in time and trying to make a connection with whoever haunts this hotel's past!!! The event will start with a 2 course evening meal which will be served in the Hotel's Dining Area.

Flat comfortable shoes must be worn on the night and we ask you to bring extra layers of clothing, it can get cold in the venue later on in the night. We encourage you to bring your own cameras and camcorders to use on the night and a torch. The event will draw to a close at 3am.
